Colpensiones reported a peak of 53 million attempted cyberattacks, all blocked without affecting the information of its users.
The Colombian Pension Administrator (Colpensiones) noted that it has faced an unprecedented increase in attempted cyberattacks, reaching a peak of 53 million between the end of April and May 2025.
Colpensiones reported that All these attacks were detected and blocked in a timely manner, without any impact on the information of the entity’s affiliates, nor the information of people who are pensioners.

The entity explained that This phenomenon is part of an international wave of automated attacksreported by organizations such as Microsoft Threat Intelligence, Check Point Research, Fortinet, the CSIRT-GOV and the Virtual CAI of the National Police, which have identified an intensification of threats directed mainly at financial and government entities.
Following this report from the authorities, Colpensiones implemented a series of preventive and corrective actions such as strengthening firewallsupdating intrusion detection and prevention platforms (IPS), the use of sandboxing mechanisms, and permanent 24/7 monitoring of its technological infrastructure through the Security Operations Center (SOC).
“Thanks to these measures, intrusion attempts decreased to 19.9 million in June, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the early response plan and coordination with its network and cybersecurity service providers,” the entity said in a statement.

Colpensiones also explained that cyber threats and attacks were neutralized in a timely manner. “All threats were detected and neutralized effectively, guaranteeing operational continuity and the protection of information,” the entity concluded.
