Judge Milagros Ramírez, of the Ninth Criminal Court of the National District, today sentenced Colonel Ysabelita de los Santos Pérez and two other defendants, accused of being responsible for the attack on the Ombudsman, to six months of suspended prison. Pablo Ulloa, during a visit to the Vehicle Detention Center, known as the “Canódromo el Coco.”
De los Santos Pérez was sentenced together with Geraldina de los Santos Peña and Marisol Vargas, who, however, will not serve their sentences because they have been suspended.
The court acquitted Ronny Recio Rosario and Carlos Oliver Borque Paulino, finding no evidence of guilt against them.

The prosecutors, Yuderky Utate and Elaine Soto, argued before the court that Colonel Santos Pérez, as the person in charge of the dog track, had control of the situation and the other defendants acted in subordination to her.
As a result, Colonel Ysabelita de los Santos Pérez faced charges of rebellion against the Ombudsman, to provoke voluntary aggression, in violation of articles 209, 212, 309, 234 of the Dominican Penal Code, as well as articles 3, 4 and 27 of Law 19-01, which creates the Ombudsman and grants him the power to investigate and clarify actions of entities that provide public service.
Likewise, Ronny Recio Rosario and Carlos Oliver Borque Paulino are accused of violating articles 209, 212, 309 and 234 of the Dominican Penal Code, in addition to articles 3, 4 and 27 of Law 19-01.
Meanwhile, the accused Marisol Vargas faces charges of voluntarily beating Richard Alberto Peña, in violation of article 309 of the Dominican Penal Code.
Geraldina de los Santos is accused of voluntary assault against journalist Lourdes Aponte Jones, in violation of Article 309 of the Dominican Penal Code, as well as Articles 5 and 10 of Law 53-07 on High Technology Crimes and Offenses, for the theft of evidence from the communications professional’s cell phone, as confirmed in the expert report, incorporated as evidence before the court.
The prosecution also requested that Colonel Ysabelita de los Santos Pérez, Geraldina de los Santos Peña, Marisol Vargas and Ronny Recio Rosario be sentenced to pay the criminal costs, while Carlos Oliver Borque Paulino be exonerated from this obligation, because he is represented by a public defender.
