Colón de Santa Fe (7 points) took advantage of this Tuesday night of an arbitration error to end up beating the local Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero (4), by 2-0, in a match corresponding to the third date, zone B, of the Professional League Cup (LPF).
The ‘sabalero’ team, directed by DT Julio César Falcioni, reached his second consecutive success in the contestn, although benefited by a mistake that occurred midway through the second period.
It is that the referee Andrés Merlos omitted to sanction a goal kick in favor of the local cast, when the entered Ramón ‘Wanchope’ Abila, in the first ball he touched, advanced the ball and he crossed the lime line.
However, the assistant Marcelo Bistocco did not observe the irregularity, the former Boca striker sent the center and the Tucuman Luis ‘Pulga’ Rodríguez defined with power to open the account (26m.).
With the entire team from Santiago immersed in a climate of nerves due to what they considered an injustice, Columbus expanded the figures with a new conquest of Facundo Garcés (31m.).
The first half was even, with alternating domain. The truth is that both teams handled the ball judiciously up to three quarters of the pitch. But it was difficult for both of them to be deep in the final meters and they depended – almost exclusively – on shots from outside the area.

In the second period, meanwhile, the development did not change too much, although Central Córdoba went ahead a few meters to try to get the gap. Thus, at 15m., Alejandro Martínez raised the final shot, from a favorable position.
And about 25m., with the Cordovan Abila already on court, the controversy of the day arose in the Madre de Ciudades of Santiago del Estero. The former Huracán escaped Pereyra’s mark, but could not control before the ball crossed the baseline. The later center allowed the ‘Flea’ to open the account. The judges omitted the action and validated the conquest.
The subsequent goal by Garcés put a huge distance on the scoreboard, when DT Sergio Rondina’s team had made merits to –at least- prove an equality.
On the next day, Central Córdoba will visit Aldosivi in Mar del Plata this Saturday, while Colón, that same day, will face the bottom side Barracas Central, at the Presbítero Grella stadium in the city of Paraná. Both matches will start at 7:15 p.m.
