Based on a new study by the polling firm Cifras y Conceptos, it was evidenced that Colombians continue to reject the proposal to end the Health Promotion Entities (EPS).

In a new analysis, the second to be carried out this year, 71% of citizens considered that they did not agree with the proposal.
The survey, which analyzed the climate of opinion regarding the first 100 days of the government of President Gustavo Petro, also showed that 73% of the population prefers to access health services through the EPS and not from public hospitals or health secretariats.
Similarly, the report inquired whether the announcement of the National government of an eventual reform to the Health System increased the use or request of appointments, exams or medical procedures, to which he confirmed that 21% of those surveyed answered yes.

However, from the Colombian Association of Comprehensive Medicine Companies (Acemi) it is assured that although it is not known for sure what the reform will consist of, the consequences of these announcements are already palpable. For her part, Paula Acosta, president of Acemi, stated that “Given the uncertainty, users are demanding more services that, according to preliminary calculations, could be of the order of 400,000 additional services per day, which generates significant pressure on the opportunity for these, and demands additional resources for the health sector, and EPS in particular, can respond to this challenge”.

“I think this is a message for the National Government, where it is necessary to openly discuss the reform and provide content that responds to what people expect, better opportunity and better quality of services, but not go back,” concluded the executive president of the union.
