Colombians and Venezuelans lead half of the foreign employment created in Spain this year

Colombianos y venezolanos en España

Colombians have more than 250,000 members and Venezuelans have around 210,000, consolidating themselves as the main national groups within the group of Latin American workers.

The growth of foreign employment in Spain in 2025 was led by workers from Colombia and Venezuela, which together explain practically half of the net increase in foreign affiliates to the Social Security system.

During the last year, the number of employed Latin Americans registered an increase of around 92,300 people, 9% more than in the same previous period. Of this total, a large part corresponds to Colombians and Venezuelans, the two Latin American nationalities with the greatest labor presence in Spain.

In absolute figures, Colombians exceed 250,000 members and Venezuelans are around 210,000consolidating themselves as the main national groups within the group of Latin American workers.

Between the end of 2024 and the average data until October of this year, both countries added 65,000 new members: about 35,000 Venezuelans and 30,000 Colombians, well above other nationalities in the region.

The weight of these two groups is also reflected in the labor structure: the majority work in the general regime, although there are also relevant percentages in the self-employed regime and in domestic employment.

In the global context, foreign workers in Spain already represent more than three million members, and Latin Americans constitute approximately a third of that total.

Analysts and those responsible for labor policies highlight that the dynamism of foreign employment, driven largely by Colombians and Venezuelans, has contributed to sustaining the creation of jobs in sectors such as hospitality, construction and domestic services, where the demand for labor remains high.
