Colombian Vice President Francia Márquez denounces assassination attempt

The Vice President of Colombia, Francia Márquez denounced this Tuesday, January 10, that she was the victim of an attack while she was on her way to visit her family in Yolombó, in Suarez, department of Cauca.

According to the information revealed by Márquez through his social networks, the explosive device was located by presidential security personnel, who allegedly sought an attempt on his life.

“Members of my security team found a device with more than 7 kilos of explosive material on the road that leads to my family residence in the village of Yolombó, in Suarez, Cauca. It was destroyed in a controlled manner by anti-explosive personnel from the SIJIN,” said the official through her account.

«The attached report shows that it was a new attempt to attempt, against my life. However, we will not stop working, day after day, until we reach the #TotalPeace that ?? dreams of and needs. We will not give up until in each territory it is possible to live in true harmony”, he assured.

According to the note, the event occurred over the weekend while the prior review was being carried out on the route that the vice president would choose to reach her family’s residence.

“Due to the characteristics and location of the artifact, intelligence and security personnel concluded that it was an obvious attack against the Vice President,” he added.
