1. Profiles of the Guapi River
From the town of Limones (Cauca), the group Semblanzas del Río Guapi creates and performs songs like “Llora la tierra”, a reflective message about the threats faced by rivers, fauna and flora. “The sea does not generate fish, the fisherman abused it, with the changa they eliminated the little shrimp (…) the earth cries, the planet cries, cries of disappointment,” resounds accompanied by the marimba.
Semblanzas means portrait, and through music these children and young people seek to capture the essence of Cauca, its river, its people, its trees, its traditions and its history.
2. Motilonas Rap
The municipality of Tibú, in Norte de Santander, gave rise to the powerful voices of Denis Cáceres and Sol Ortega, two women who, through hip hop, address issues such as reconciliation and resistance.
They call themselves Motilonas Rap, in homage to the Motilón-Barí reservation, in Catatumbo. Although the inhabitants of this region have faced violence, these young women tell through their music how the tenacity and strength of their people flourishes. They also dedicate their rhymes to nature, as in their song “Ishta”: “life, territory are not for sale, don’t try,” they sing.
3. N. Hardem, Mestizo and Shantéh
Nelson Martínez or N. Hardem is an artist from Bogotá who has made his way into the world of rap since 2011. His music is influenced by the sounds of underground rap from the 90s. On the song Arroyo joined the British Colombian collective Mestizo, which mixes popular Colombian sounds with London jazz and hip hop. The voice of the British singer Shantéh is also added, whose musical influences refer to soul, hip hop and R&B.
Adriana Lizcano and Edson Velandia
In Piedecuesta, Santander, live Adriana Lizcano and her husband, Edson Velandia. She was born in Bucaramanga, a Colombian lawyer and popular singer. In addition, she leads the Batucada Guaricha, made up of Santander women, and is co-founder of the Tigra Festival.
He, also from Bumangués, is an actor and musician in the groups Gestus and Velandia y la Tigra. Through his compositions he explores social problems.
Liana
It is a group from Tumaqueña that, since 2018, has strived to keep the musical tradition of the Pacific Nariño alive, fusing it with other rhythms to reach different audiences.
“May life be enough for me to have a drink of fluid water,” they say in their song Agua, to the sound of the cununos, the marimba and the guasá. This journey through the sounds of the Pacific is a tribute to that vital substance for all species.

This Colombian group was born in Medellín at the beginning of this century. Some of its influences are pop rock, punk rock and gothic rock.
In the introduction of the Wounded music video, the enormous claw of a felling machine is seen hugging trees and then mercilessly cutting them down. Then, he removes the leaves, cuts the stems into smaller pieces and deposits them in sleep as if they were objects, not living beings, that maintain the balance of ecosystems and clean the air we breathe.
Nicolás Losada
He is an author and composer from Florencia (Caquetá). Through his music he exalts nature. Since his approach to the yagé plant, he has directed his lyrics towards making Amazonian music visible.
In Rain Dance he makes a fascinating mix of sounds. The capador, the seed rattle and the drum emulate the rain cooling the trees in the jungle, it is at the same time a thank you to the water and a call to stay.
Velvety
This Colombian alternative rock band, founded by Héctor Buitrago and Andrea Echeverry, is characterized by championing causes such as nature. According to them, through their music they seek to commit to “a more just and less violent future.”
In their river song they express the need to protect the water, the animals. One of the most powerful phrases is “Prayers for the river, let us save our flowing blood.” In the end, all lives are connected and polluting rivers will continue to put human and natural existence at risk.

The famous singer-songwriter Juanes has been a fervent defender of the environment. Shakira
Shakira, one of the most recognized artists worldwide, has used her platform to promote environmental education. His Pies Descalzos foundation not only focuses on the education of disadvantaged children, but has also implemented programs that promote sustainability and respect for the natural environment. Songs like “Wrapped in a Cloud” transmit messages of connection with nature.
Stereo Bomb
With its fusion of electronic music and traditional Colombian rhythms, Bomba Estéreo has addressed the issue of the environment in several of its songs. The lyrics of “Soy Yo” reflect a call to authenticity and connection to the land. Their work goes beyond music, as they have participated in events and campaigns to protect Colombia’s ecosystems, especially in the Caribbean region.
