After verifying the documentation, Migration officials determined that the 28 migrants rescued by the Colombian Navy did not have the corresponding permits to remain in the country and were handed over to immigration authorities.
The Colombian Navy reported the rescue of 28 migrants on August 24 who had arrived illegally to the community of Chucheros, in Valle del Cauca, Colombia. Among the foreigners, a minor was found.
Officials said the three people were from China, including a 10-year-old boy; one person from South Africa, two from Bangladesh, 20 from India and two Venezuelans.

After the presence of irregular migrants was detected in the area, the Colombian Navy “deployed Marine Infantry troops aboard a Coast Guard unit and transported Colombian Migration personnel for the relevant verifications.” This was stated by the General Command of the Military Forces of Colombia on their website.
After verifying the documentation, The officials of the neighboring country determined that the migrants did not have the corresponding permits to remain in the country and they were handed over to the immigration authorities to “advance the relevant procedures.”
The Colombian armed forces added that the foreigners arrived approximately two weeks ago and would be transported to the United States.
They also said that in recent days, the Colombian Navy has rescued 61 irregular migrants who were transiting through the Pacific and the Caribbean.
