Colombian economy grew 3.6% in the third quarter of this year, according to Dane

GDP grew 3.6% in the quarter and 2.8% in the year to date, driven by services, commerce, health and manufacturing.

The National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) reported that the Colombian economy registered annual growth of 3.6% in the third quarter of this year, driven mainly by health, education, commerce and manufacturing activities. So far in 2025, GDP accumulates a variation of 2.8%.

Quarterly growth: the activities that contributed the most According to the report, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 3.6% compared to the same period in 2024.

Dane pointed out that the sectors with the greatest contribution were those related to public administration, education and health, which grew 8.0%, and expressed that “these activities contributed 1.3 percentage points to the annual variation.”

Another of the drivers was commerce, transportation and accommodation, which presented a variation of 5.6%. According to the entity, “this group of activities contributed 1.2 percentage points”. Manufacturing industries grew 4.1%, with a contribution of 0.5 percentage points to the overall result.

Growth so far this year reaches 2.8% Between January and September 2025, GDP accumulates growth of 2.8% compared to the same period in 2024.

The Dane indicated that commerce, transportation and accommodation increased 5.1%, and that “These activities contributed 1.0 percentage points to the variation of the current year.” The performance of the public administration, education and health sectors was also highlighted, which grew 4.4%, with a contribution of 0.7 percentage points.

Public administration, education and health activities grew 3.4%, while financial activities grew 2.3% and manufacturing activities 1.5%.

Dane noted that “the quarterly growth reflects positive dynamics in several sectors, particularly in social services and industry.”
