The Government of Colombia began to designate the officials and diplomatic personnel that will work in its different representations in Venezuela, thus it was learned that the new Consul of that country in Caracas, will be Fulvia Benavides, who was serving as director of consular affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of New Granada.
Likewise, the new first secretary of foreign relations of the Embassy, and the counselor of foreign relations, who are Germán Castañeda, and Lorena Arboleda, respectively, were appointed.
In this sense, the Colombian ambassador in Venezuela, Armando Benedetti, expressed his satisfaction with the appointments of the officials through his twitter account:
“The work that Lorena Arboleda has done has been decisive for the good success of the reestablishment of relations with Venezuela. She finally accompanies me officially as Foreign Relations Counselor and the second on board of the Embassy ”.
These appointments occur after the Government of the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, ordered the return of diplomatic officials to Venezuela, through decree 2270 of 2022, and that the New Granada ambassador in Venezuela, Armando Benedetti, requested the Foreign Ministry of his country to they will appoint consuls that allow Colombia to strengthen its diplomatic work in Venezuelan territory.
“Let the consuls name quickly and my chancellery get its act together”, since only two officials have been appointed at the embassy.
This statement, made a few days ago by the official to the media, reveals his willingness to continue further strengthening the process of consolidating relations between the two countries.
