The Colombian company Natural Gas Company – Nagasco, will be in charge of the construction of 25 kilometers of distribution networks in the district of San Jerónimo (Cusco). In this way, said project will be complemented with the implementation of the Regasification Satellite Plant (PSR) of liquefied natural gas, which will serve 1,000 Cusco families in a first stage, bringing less polluting and economical energy to their homes.
The announcement was made by the regional governor, Werner Salcedo, within the framework of a guided tour of the PSR of the Natural Gas Massification Project of the Cusco region, whose physical construction has been 100% completed, entering its final phase of physical implementation. “Let us witness having that first home with domestic gas, and thus the story that we all want is born,” he highlighted.
He specified that Fise this year will tender eight satellite LNG regasification plants in the provinces of La Convencion, Quispicanchi, Canchis, Espinar, Chumbivilcas, Cusco and Canas, as part of the natural gas massification plan. “The gas pipeline for Cusco has to be a reality, the gas pipeline for southern Peru, the same. We remain firm in our commitment to contribute to closing energy gaps, promoting projects that guarantee access to clean and affordable energy,” he emphasized.
Regarding the installation of 25 kilometers of trunk network, he said that it will be done with 200 millimeter diameter pipe from the K’ayra whereabouts to before the Qenccoro prison. Meanwhile, the home connection will include the installation of a pipeline with up to three natural gas delivery points for cooking, showering and heating.
He reiterated that the Ministry of Energy and Mines plans to implement a total of 13 satellite plants in the Cusco region, eight of them suitable for bidding this year and the rest during 2026.
