The Ministry of Defense made the announcement this Monday pointing out that the measure seeks to protect Colombians and strengthen the operational capabilities of the defense forces.
“The anti-drone system is an example of the National Government’s commitment to technological innovation and the defense of sovereignty. “This investment not only reinforces our national security, but also positions Colombia as a regional reference in the fight against emerging threats.”highlighted the Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, quoted in a statement.
The armed groups, especially the FARC dissidents of the Central General Staff (EMC), began this year to use drones in their attacks on military objectives or strategic installations, but devices are also used for espionage or smuggling.

The Government has invested 20,000 million pesos in these systems, “a significant investment that reinforces its commitment to the security of Colombians,” the Ministry said in a statement.
“These resources, managed as part of a technological modernization strategy, represent a determined effort to strengthen defense systems to protect the inhabitants, the territory and the assets of the nation”added the Ministry of Defense.
