Between March 23 and 24, 2022, Colombia will participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the International Energy Agency (IEA) 2022.

The event will be held in Paris (France) and is cataloged as one of the most relevant meetings in energy matters.
The energy ministers of the main nations of the world meet in it, as well as the ministers of the countries that are in the process of joining the IEA.
(See: As of February, 2022 PGN commitments were $87.3 billion).
“This is the first time that Colombia formally participates as a candidate country in the process of accession to the agency. Days ago, at CeraWeek, the world recognized the progress that this Government has been making in terms of Energy Transition, which is the present and the future that this administration is going to leave to the Nation.”, said the Minister of Mines and Energy, Diego Mesa, who will represent the country.
It is worth remembering that, in July 2021, the IEA governing board accepted Colombia’s request to start the formal accession process as a member of the entity. For this reason, Minister Mesa will speak with the Executive President of the IEA, Fatih Birol, to learn about the progress in the country’s incorporation process.
The Ministerial Meeting will address the transition and energy security and the impact that high fuel and energy prices, derived from the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, may have on the sector.

The meeting will be chaired by the United States Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, and will also feature the participation of the White House Special Envoy for Climate Change, John Kerry.
