MADRID, Spain.- Colombia will be able to export meat and dairy products to the Cuban Government, after recent authorization from the island’s health authorities.
“As a result of the audit carried out by the National Center for Animal Health (Cenasa) of Cuba, in November and December 2022, Colombia obtained the authorization to export beef, pork, poultry, dairy products and meat derivatives, after the recognition of the Colombian official inspection system as equivalent to the Cuban one”, indicates a statement from the Colombian Government shared in Twitter.
The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, Germán Umaña Mendoza, indicated that this authorization, for a period of two years, “will allow the promotion of economic and commercial relations based on the existing strengths and opportunities identified between the two countries and Without a doubt, it will benefit our peoples”.
Slaughterhouses that meet the requirements of the Island and are endorsed by the National Institute for Food and Drug Surveillance (Invima), of Colombia, will be able to export without the need for individual procedures, the information adds.
Until now, the Cuban regime has not explained whether these imports will be sold to the population at unaffordable prices as on previous occasions. Just as it is also unknown how it will pay for these imports to Colombia.
In this sense, the user identified as Chucho commented: “They don’t want to pay 72 million for the year 1997 and are they going to pay for meat from 2023? Ha ha ha, that makes me laugh. Petro, you are going to know what it is to tie a donkey to an old window”.
