The Minister for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil, arrived this Friday in Bogotá to participate in the installation of the Colombia-Venezuela Good Neighbor and Integration Commission.
Through his account on the social network Twitter, Gil said that this meeting seeks to strengthen relations between the two nations.
After his arrival in the Colombian capital, the foreign minister held a meeting with his counterpart, Álvaro Leyva.
“#30Jun We are in the city of Bogotá together with Foreign Minister @AlvaroLeyva, to participate in the installation of the Colombia-Venezuela Good Neighbor and Integration Commission with the aim of promoting this new stage of relations between the two countries. ????? ”, he wrote on the social network.
The Venezuelan diplomat stated that this commission aims to work on various aspects, such as infrastructure, communications, immigration, social and energy issues.
“Daily cooperation at the borders and beyond,” stressed Gil, quoted by Latin Press.
Similarly, he highlighted the strengthening of relations between Colombia and Venezuela, after the arrival of Gustavo Petro, where bilateral relations were reestablished, and culminated in the commercial relations with the total opening of the border, and the signing of agreements.
At the meeting, they will also seek to promote cooperation and joint development in neighboring areas.
For his part, the Colombian foreign minister described these activities – where a memorandum for the consolidation of relations was also signed – is part of remaking history, after more than five broken years.
“What we are doing today, which is returning to good neighborliness, to integration, leaving that mistake behind, is something that exalts both republics,” he said, quoted by Prensa Latina.
