After Colombia reported outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Acandí, an area near the border with Panama, the National Directorate of Animal Health of the Ministry of Agricultural Development (Mida) reported that all necessary preventive measures are being taken to avoid for this disease to enter the country.
Avian influenza is a disease that affects all birds, with the presence of high mortality, purple comb and barbels, depression, respiratory signs, among others.
Mida emphasized that it has developed an action plan to prevent the possible introduction, establishment and spread of this disease in the country.
He also asked all producers, poultry breeders and the general population to report to the nearest MIDA agency or to the phone number 6550-8486 if they suspect this disease or the presence of the aforementioned clinical signs in their birds.
