The entity indicated that the departments of Tolima, Huila, Cauca, Nariño, Putumayo, Caldas, Meta, Vaupés, Guaviare and Caquetá They are most affected by the disease, reporting cases of people with the symptoms of the disease.
The epidemiological evaluation during this year 2025, 112 cases have been registered, with a report of 46 deaths nationwide.

The follow-up showed that In the department of Tolima there are 115 cases and the death of 44 people, followed by Huila, Cauca, Nariño, Caldas, Putumayo, Caquetá, Meta and Guaviare, where there is one person who died respectively in each region as a result of the disease.
In Putumayo the report is 8 cases, of which 6 have died and two survived. In Nariño the report is of two cases, one person alive and another dead. In Meta the report is of three dead cases and in Caquetá there are two cases.
According to the health authorities, currently the department of Meta has been classified as one of the regions that presents a very high risk of contracting yellow fever, which is why the health authorities are calling on the community in the municipalities of El Castillo, Fuentedeoro, Granada, Mesetas, La Macarena, Uribe, Lejanías, Puerto Concordia, Puerto Lleras, Puerto Rico, San Juan de Arama, San Martín and Vistahermosa, to comply with the required vaccination schedule and thus counteract this viral disease.
On the other hand, because the vector is transmitted through the ‘aedes aegypti’ mosquito, the community is invited not to have water accumulated in wells, buckets of water and tanks, since these spaces are where the mosquito spreads.

Other measures that can be used to reduce the impact of the disease are using tents, repellent, long-sleeved clothing and pants.

According to health professionals, it is important to go to the nearest health center for symptoms such as sudden high fever, chills, severe headache, muscle and joint pain (especially in the back), nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue and weakness.
The director of the National Institute of Health (INS), Diana Pava, stated that surveillance of yellow fever cases continues. especially in Tolima where the report is 112 cases.
The official pointed out that at this moment the health emergency declared by the National Government against yellow fever continues.
“Although we have had a decrease in the cases that we were usually presenting when it began, we continue to have positive cases, especially in unvaccinated people. This is a very important message for people and citizens, especially in categorized areas. as very high risk, in departments where it has already been known, get vaccinated, because that is an act of protection”he indicated.
