MIAMI, United States. — The Colombian government and the Chavista regime in Venezuela began the reestablishment of diplomatic relations with the arrival of ambassadors Armando Benedetti and Félix Plasencia in Caracas and Bogotá, respectively.

“Today, on my birthday, I take effective office from Venezuela before the Foreign Ministry as Colombian ambassador to our neighboring country. I am accompanied by the ambassador of a diplomatic career, Luis Fernando Cuartas Ayala”, declared Benedetti in his Twitter account. Twitter.
It is expected that today at five in the afternoon the diplomat will receive the credentials from the Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.

“We are very eager to advance in the Diplomacy of Peace in this second opportunity that the history of restarting diplomatic relations between two sister nations gives us,” Plasencia said on Twitter.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were interrupted in 2019, when the government of the then president of Colombia, Iván Duque, recognized Juan Guaidó as president in charge of the oil country.
