The Colombian Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Susana Muhamad, promoted in New York, during the UN General Assembly, the COP16 on Biodiversity that will take place next month in the city of Cali (southwest) and noted Colombia’s climate leadership.
Together with the Colombian Foreign Minister, Luis Gilberto Murillo, the minister participated in New York in the event ‘Biological Diversity and Peace: Colombia’s Bets on COP16’, where the Peace with Nature Coalition initiative was presented, which will be officially launched at COP16 .

“This initiative seeks to rethink humanity’s relationship with nature, addressing peace and biodiversity as essential pillars for global survival.“explained the Ministry of the Environment in a statement.
In addition, Muhamad has also participated during his visit in panels such as the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, where he insisted on the need for a reform of the global financial system, and in the meeting of megadiverse countries organized by Colombia and Brazil.

“With this agenda, Colombia reaffirms its leadership on the global environmental scene in a decisive year for the implementation of the global pact for biodiversity.“, noted the ministry. Financing of the agenda On the other hand, Muhamad presented the Portfolio for the Socioecological Transition of Colombia, which seeks to mobilize approximately 160 billion dollars in investments to accelerate decarbonization, the development of renewable energies and the conservation of the biodiversity.
“We have managed to consolidate progress towards the financing of our Colombian Climate and Ecological Transition Portfolio, led by the Ministry of the Environment and several entities of the National Government. This portfolio will be launched from October 2 to 4 in Barranquilla, in the Caribbean, and we hope to consolidate a great announcement for COP16“Muhamad noted.
