The entire country regrets the death of the professional soldier Julio César Vásquez, whose body was found on April 15, 2025 in the Potrerito district, municipality of Jamundí, Valle del Cauca. The finding occurred during the search deployed by troops from the National Army, in coordination with the National Police and the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Attorney General’s Office.
Vásquez, with more than 15 years of service in the ranks of the National Army, was kidnapped on April 7. The judicial authorities advance the corresponding investigations to clarify the circumstances of time, way and place in which the events occurred, as well as to identify and capture those responsible for this crime.
The National Army categorically condemns this atrocious act, which constitutes a serious violation of human rights. This criminal action enluta to the institution and represents a direct attack on the integrity of those who work for the country’s security.
The institution extends a message of solidarity and felt condolences to family members and loved ones from soldier Julio César Vásquez (QEPD). Through an interdisciplinary team, comprehensive accompaniment to their relatives will continue to be provided.
The National Army reiterates its unwavering commitment to the defense of Colombians and will continue to advance sustained military operations against the organized armed groups that persist in affecting the tranquility of the southwest of the country.
