The national government continues in its work for supporting older adults through the Colombia Mayor programwhich seeks to increase the social protection of this vulnerable population through economic subsidies. For this reason, Social prosperity communicated the new amounts determined for this age group.
“In the president’s government, Gustavo Petro, economic protection was increased to the elderly in extreme poverty. Among the measures, beneficiaries of #Colombiamayor over 80 years of age have differential payment to help them meet their essential needs,”indicated from the “X” account of the department led by Gustavo Bolívar.
The amount is 80,000 pesos for most older adults, while those of 80 years or more can receive up to 225,000 pesos per month. With these new monetary transfers, more than 1.6 million people are being helped in extreme vulnerability conditions.

How long are Colombia Mayor payments?
On Friday, February 21, cycle 1 of 2025 begins and will end on March 6. “We invite you to be attentive to the information they will receive by text message so that they can claim their benefit without complications,” Indicates the official information.
To register in the Colombia Mayor program in 2025, those interested must meet the following requirements:
– Be Colombian: The applicant must have Colombian nationality.
– Residence in Colombia: Having resided in the country for at least 10 years.
– Minimum age: Be at least 54 years for women and 59 years for men.
– Registration in Sisbén IV: Be registered in Sisbén IV in groups A, B or C1, indicating that it is within the poverty levels that they qualify for the program.
– Receive pension: Not being receiving a pension or having sufficient income for subsistence.

Those interested should go to the mayor of the municipality where they reside, carrying their citizenship card and based on this, the data will be validated and will be determined if they are in the vulnerability groups.
