News Colombia.
The month of November will bring good news for Colombians who are waiting for a break in their work and academic routine. During this month there will be two national holidays, which will give rise to two long weekends ideal for resting, traveling or spending time with the family before the arrival of the Christmas season.

The first of these holidays will be Monday, November 4, corresponding to All Saints’ Day, a religious date that was originally celebrated on November 1, but which, thanks to the Emiliani Law, is moved to the following Monday to promote rest and internal tourism. In different regions of the country, this day is usually used to carry out cultural and religious activities.
The second holiday in November is November 17, the date on which Cartagena’s Independence Day will be commemorated this year. Although this day is officially celebrated on November 11, the benefits of the same law are carried over to the following Monday.
Both holidays represent an opportunity to boost local tourism, one of the sectors most benefited by long weekends. According to data from the Ministry of Commerce, festive long weekends usually generate a significant increase in hotel occupancy, especially in destinations with warm climates such as Santa Marta, San Andrés, Cartagena and the Coffee Region.
However, the authorities have called on travelers to plan their trips in advance, check the condition of the roads and respect traffic regulations, given that bridges tend to increase mobility and the risk of accidents. It is also recommended to make advance reservations at hotels and restaurants due to high demand.
Thus, November is shaping up to be a perfect month to take a break before the end of the year. With two consecutive long weekends, Colombians will be able to combine rest, tourism and reflection on dates that mix tradition, history and faith.
