Colombia confirmed the death of alias “Roque”, leader of the FARC dissidence

Alias ”Roque” was known for being the leader of the urban patrols in Tibú of the FARC dissidence and in recent days a video was released in which a group of insurgents appeared in front of the town hall

Colombian authorities confirmed this Sunday, July 17, the death of alias “Roque”, head of the GAOR (Residual Organized Armed Group) of the FARC dissidents in the town of Tibú, in the Norte de Santander department.

The commander of the II Division of the Colombian Army, Omar Esteban Sepúlveda Carvajal, was the first to report on the operation that was carried out together with the Norte de Santander police in an area of Catatumbo.

Subsequently, the president of the neighboring country, Iván Duque, and the Minister of Defense, Diego Molano, used their social networks to confirm the death of alias “Roque” at the hands of the State security forces.

Duque stressed that the dissident wanted to “frighten” the public and that he was “neutralized” thanks to coordinated work; while Molano mentioned that alias “Roque” was identified as the author of a series of videos in which they extorted money and defied the authorities.

These videos came out on Thursday, July 14, where a group of these dissidents posed in front of the Tibú Mayor’s Office to reaffirm control over their territory.

The operation was carried out on Saturday night in the urban center of Tibú where the FARC dissident leader was operating. Colombian media point to “Roque” as the main figure of the urban patrols of this insurgent group.

The death of alias “Roque” occurs after Diego Molano confirmed that, through the so-called “Operation Jupiter”, they killed the FARC dissident guerrilla leader Néstor Gregorio Vera, alias “Iván Mordisco”, with what they claim to have hit accurate at the head of that insurgent group.

Molano recalled that “Iván Mordisco” did not enter the peace agreements signed in Havana and that he had already become a “scourge” for the southern part of Colombia due to the number of crimes he committed in the departments of Caquetá, Guaviare, Vichada, Meta and Putumayo. In his opinion, what he wanted was to refound the FARC and have about eight thousand men under his charge.
