Several delegates from President Gustavo Petro’s government traveled to the United States this week, where they led meetings with economic authorities such as the International Monetary Fund and the Inter-American Development Bank, in order to put ideas and ideas on the table. projects they have to promote the fight against climate change.

Promoting economic reactivation and climate transition were the central themes of this meeting, which was also attended by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Andrés Camacho, and the Minister of the Environment, Susana Muhammad, and in which an agreement was reached on the creation of a donor cooperation table, a collaborative effort that involves the private sector and is essential to finance environmental projects in Colombia.
“There is very good news. We have taken another step on this path towards the climate transition. At this meeting, we presented the portfolio of projects and the steps that our country is taking in this matter. We have a very important ally like the IDB, with whom we have built the methodology and infrastructure necessary to facilitate this transition,” said director Laura Sarabia.
As this official explained, the meeting also made it possible to present the progress of the project portfolio and the Government’s joint vision, highlighting the importance of building financial vehicles that materialize the country’s ambitious energy transition goals.
“This effort is aligned with the vision of President Gustavo Petro, who has requested a sustainable development model for the country and as the next step, an investment portfolio of USD $40 billion dollars will be presented that includes projects specific in energy, water, industry and sustainable tourism, in Barranquilla,” he also highlighted.

The National Government also highlighted the importance of coordination between sectors, arguing that the climate transition is not only the responsibility of a ministry; but a transversal effort that must involve multiple sectors, both in the local and international context.
