This situation reveals a notorious lack of planning, and also of creativity, which, added to the historical tendency of the Colonian commune to not invest resources beyond the basics, ends up wasting a huge municipal structure that is entirely at the service of the community. people would be off the charts.
The up to now underutilization of the magnificent and reconstructed Plaza de Toros; the comings and goings with the theme of the lifeguards or with the iconic parade of calls in Colonia del Sacramento that in fair measure and will finally take place; the scant assistance to rural producers in the face of the terrible scourge of drought; as well as the scarcity of activities in a season that paints – in principle and partially – positive, demonstrate a deterioration in departmental management that ends up harming us beyond political affinities.
Any reader related to Mayor Moreira could think that he is with the opinion of a political opponent who in the democratic game does nothing more than criticize to obtain an electoral gain. Well, believe it or not, nothing could be further from reality, because in addition to trying to be prudent and respectful in my expressions, I believe that other Municipalities, including the National Party, have known how to face challenges with greater commitment and openness. And I’m totally open to debating ideas!
Moreover, this does not imply, for example, ignoring the efforts that have been made to improve the influx of tourists, mainly foreigners, or ignoring some commitments in this direction, such as the institutional presence in the most important international tourism fairs in Argentina or Brazil. (And in Madrid?). Nor does it mean avoiding acknowledging laudable attitudes of the Administration, such as the specific measures in defense of the accesses to Puerto Platero or the precautionary measure “non edificandi” in the Colonia Cosmopolita area, trying to preserve the beautiful coastal strip.
However, the equation is highly insufficient in a people as rich and diverse as the people of Colonia, who, in addition to provoking economically powerful public coffers with their efforts, deserve a turnaround that transforms a tremendous flow of talent into the best Department in the country, as they like. tell the mayor. For that you can, and should perform much more.
And in the current situation, Municipalities should not be left out of the debate, nor should they be distracted, since they have a lot to do and create in their respective jurisdictions, in addition to the beautiful beautiful Christmas trees.
