With the installation of five work tables in the townships of Amelia Denis de Icaza, Belisario Frías, Mateo Iturralde, Victoriano Lorenzo and Arnulfo Arias, the Colmena Plan started in the district of San Miguelito.
The implementation of this plan under the coordination of the Ministry of Social Development (Mides) will be carried out through the Governors and Provincial Technical Boards, which are in charge of aligning, targeting and prioritizing the basic needs of the communities.
This objective will be achieved by strengthening the institutions, local governments and civil society, providing them with training, executing the institutional offer and following up on the activities carried out in the locality in order to satisfy these needs.
The work tables are divided as follows: Seniors, women, youth, children and mixed, which involves different ages.
The Minister of Mides, María Inés Castillo, explained that the topics discussed in the groups are related to early childhood, nutrition, clean water and basic sanitation, health, education, housing and those activities that generate income / entrepreneurship.
In addition, it includes safety, sports and culture, conservation of the environment, rural electrification / lighting and road infrastructure.
The head of the social portfolio indicated that the Colmena Plan is allowing the transfer of the state supply to the 300 most vulnerable townships in the country.
In this sense, he assured that 777 thousand Panamanians from the most humble strata are receiving care from different institutions, which with their services are improving the lives of these citizens.
Castillo recalled that the Colmena Plan is the National Government’s strategy to attack poverty and inequality throughout the country.
These work tables make up the Hive Clock and once the presentation is concluded among the community, the needs are chosen with the highest priority to be taken into account in the public consultation.
