A collision between a travel bus and a trailer caused the death of 11 people on Friday night (8) in Mato Grosso. The accident happened around 9:30 pm, on BR-163, in Lucas do Rio Verde.
According to the new Southern Route, a concessionaire that manages the highway, in addition to the 11 confirmed deaths, 46 passengers were injured and were sent to hospitals in the region. Of the total injuries, 12 people are in serious condition, including the trailer driver, 26 are in moderate state and eight had light injuries.
According to preliminary information, the bus, which belongs to Rio Novo, headed to Sinop (MT) and collided head -on with a truck that carried cotton lump at the height of kilometer 648 of the highway.
