The councilor of La Union, mario ortizpointed out his concern about the collapse, since the sewage will contaminate the river that is used by different communities.
“Contamination is not only to the waters of the river, but to the possibility that there are people unaware that the river is being polluted, they can drink contaminated water, sewage that we do not know what it contains inside (…) even waste arrives through of this Colún pipeline. We could not measure the damage because we do not know from what time this pipe collapsed, “said the communal authority.

The operations manager of the Essal Sanitary Services company, Marcelo Cofreindicated the measures that were applied due to this collapse, which includes the suspension of drinking water for the commune of La Unión, to reduce the amount of liquid waste.
“We are about to suspend the drinking water service in order to speed up and facilitate the repair process. In turn, rural drinking water has already contacted the administration of rural drinking water services (…) so that they suspend the collection process as a precautionary measure,” explained the operations manager.
He also reported that an environmental monitoring of the Bueno River is being carried out to verify the effect generated by the collapse.
