Santiago.- Two people were injured after the front of the store collapsed «Baza Square» located on Circunvalación Sur avenue, Ingenio Arriba sector, municipality Santiago.

The director of the Civil Defense in Santiago, Francisco Ariasindicated that the construction of that commercial premises I was paralyzed by orders of the Ministry of Housing and Buildings, however, the owners apparently continued with the work.
«There are people who defy the authorities and as you can see the sign is installed and has been installed for many days and they, despite that, continued and it seems that God gave them a sign, a sign of paralysis with the collapse of this structure with personnel who were above,” he said Francisco Arias.

Arias criticized that the owners of that commercial had blocked the sidewalk for its construction and called on the competent authorities to have a strong hand against those who do not respect the rules.

«The Ministry of Housing and the mayor’s office must stop this type of actions that sometimes these types of people challenge, because we prohibit and many of the people continue the execution, but you have to be tough with this and we as authorities have to face it because what we do is protect lives and property,” he demanded.
Two ambulances from the Directorate of Care Services to Out-of-hospital Emergencies (DAEH); two units of the Santiago Fire Department; one from the National Police; a unit of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC); and another from the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Security (DIGESETT) to make traffic that remains congested viable.
Additionally, the Civil Defense, the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (EDENORTE) and the 911 Drone team have been notified and are heading to the scene to support the search and rescue efforts.
