The Minister of Tourism, David Colladostated that the reconstruction of the pier of the Samaná province “passed the test” as no flooding was recorded during the intense downpours of recent days.
During a tour of the province, Collado held meetings with hotel entrepreneursprovincial and municipal leaders, who highlighted that, unlike previous years, the Santa Barbara boardwalkreconstructed by Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), it did not suffer flooding, a problem that affected the residents of the area for years.
- According to a press release, Collado also supervised the jobs of reconstruction of Duarte Park, located in the center of the main municipality, a work that, according to what was indicated, will be delivered within a period of no more than 60 days.
Investment in the province
Collado highlighted that the Mitur has invested more than RD$1,700 million in different works to strengthen the tourism offer of the province, including the improvement of streets and accesses in Las Terrenas and Arroyo Barril, as well as the sanitation of rivers and ravines.
“All these interventions seek to strengthen the tourism development of the province and benefit local communities, improving the quality of life of its residents,” said the minister.
He added that, in addition to the investment current, others will be allocated RD$500 million to continue promoting the tourism development of Samaná.
According to the statement, among the new projects the minister mentioned the paving of the Arroyo Barril municipal district and the El Limón highwaythe renovation of the fishing village in the Las Terrenas municipality, as well as the access to Cosón and Las Galeras beach.
