Colgate has taken an eco-friendly stance by removing laminated plastic and the aluminium layer from its toothpaste tubes, replacing them with 100% recyclable materials. This allows the tubes to be transformed into a variety of products through techniques such as thermofusion.

In this vein, Colgate, one of the leading brands in the development of oral health care products, has completely eliminated the aluminum layer that its toothpaste tubes previously had, in order to manufacture them with 100% environmentally friendly materials and whose raw material is the result of a recycling process.

Through thermofusion, a novel technique for reusing plastic, Colgate-Palmolive manages to transform Colgate toothpaste tubes into necklaces, fans, notebooks, woven lamps, veneer sheets, earrings, coasters and other products made using recycling.
“Thermofusion is precisely placing layers of plastic and heating them, and that becomes a plastic fabric, with that we can make any kind of product,” explained one of the collaborators of the Colgate campaign on the use of recycling its products to contribute to not polluting the environment.

The upcycling (creative reuse) of Colgate toothpaste caps and those of other toiletries, cleaning products and beverages also produces end products such as woven lamps, phone holders, amplifiers, 3D printing, etc.
