Cold front will leave Nicaragua with temperatures of up to 18 degrees in the north

A cold front located from Mexico to Honduras will cause a decrease in temperatures in Nicaragua starting this Thursday, mainly in the northern area.

The Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (Ineter) reported that temperatures will decrease mainly in Matagalpa, Nueva Segovia and Jinotega. They will have a minimum that will range between 18 to 20 degrees. In the Pacific, they will be between 28 and 32 degrees during the day, and between 20 and 24 degrees in the early morning. For the Caribbean, temperatures will drop to 22 degrees.

For its part, the Observatory of Natural Phenomena (Ofena) assured that “the cold front will reach the periphery on the northern border of the country, but it will affect with decreases in temperatures, we may have minimums of the order, between 18 and 20 in the elevated areas of Matagalpa and Jinotega.

The cool atmosphere characteristic of the month will continue from December 9 to 15 with maximum temperatures of 32 degrees for the capital, says Ineter.

The cold front will also bring winds of up to 18 knots on the Caribbean coast and the South Pacific region, which will contribute to the feeling of freshness, and waves of up to 2 meters in the Caribbean and 1.5 meters in the Pacific.

In addition, Ineter indicated that the rains will be limited to the North and South Caribbean. No precipitation is expected in the Pacific region during the week.

«Weak rains are expected to be recorded this week; However, they will remain isolated, in addition to high temperatures during 1 and 3 in the afternoon, feeling cool at night starting tomorrow, Wednesday,” explains Ineter.

The Ofena agrometeorologist, Agustín Moreira, explained for his part that there are no possible conditions for cyclonic formation for this week, so rains are very unlikely in the Pacific and north of the territory.
