The Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) reported that eight types of false medical devices for spinal surgeries circulate in the national market.
In a brief statement, he said that the identified products do not show the sanitary registry, the codes, and the names on the label are not found in the product catalog of the German company Human Tech Spine GmbH.
These are implants for the thoracic and lumbar spine; screws, bars, hooks and bars for cross connector. Also thoracic and lumbar interbody cages.
Other irregularities that were identified in the counterfeit products are that they are of a single color, they lack visible engravings, the packaging is white on both sides, the texts are of low quality, and the references do not exist in the manufacturer’s catalog.
Therefore, the commission against health risks recommended distributors, pharmacies, medical personnel and the general public not to purchase or use any of the aforementioned products.
