Reconditioning of the Treinta y Tres sports plaza was inaugurated
Last Friday the 18th, the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, inaugurated a set of improvement works in the infrastructure of the sports plaza of the city of Treinta y Tres, located in the Artigas neighborhood. As part of the initiative, in which 16,000,000 pesos were invested, its lighting network was improved to extend the hours of use and more accessible facilities were included to promote the participation of users with disabilities.
The activity was also attended by the person in charge of the Interior Development Fund program, from the Planning and Budget Office, Antonio Barrios; the coordinator of the Federated Sports area of the National Sports Secretariat, Eduardo Ulloa; the departmental head of Treinta y Tres, Mario Silvera, and the sports director of the commune, Marcos Vergara.
At the inauguration, Lacalle Pou considered that rulers must be efficient and austere in the investment of public money and return it to the citizens in works. In addition, he expressed that the sports plaza “belongs to everyone,” a concept that, according to the president, entails a double responsibility for individuals: to exercise good care for oneself and for others. Likewise, he praised societies that “break walls and throw away fabric” and pointed to the role of new generations in building more inclusive coexistence.
Silvera celebrated that the aforementioned square once again became the “beacon of departmental sports” and highlighted the accessibility work, which will guarantee greater inclusion, and the extension of service hours to users, thanks to the expansion of the lighting network. In this regard, he maintained that “the works have to be for everyone.”
The repairs, which required an investment of more than 16,000,000 pesos, included the conditioning of the basketball and multipurpose courts, as well as the renovation of the gym, the open pool and the locker rooms. A children’s play area and a space for adults and people with disabilities were also incorporated.
