Santo Domingo.- The coercive measure hearing against the defendants in the “Case Calamar” was postponed for next Sunday at 9:00 in the morning.
The measure was taken by Judge Kenya Romero, coordinator of the Permanent Attention Court of the National District, who will hear the hearing on the case, which involves the former presidential candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) in the last elections, Gonzalo Castillo. .
The forwarding of the hearing was taken at the request of the defendants’ lawyers, who argued that they need to know more about the file, which also involves the former ministers of the Treasury, Donald Guerrero, and of the Presidency, José Ramón Peralta.
The defendants in Operation Squid are accused by the Public ministry of defrauding the Dominican State with more than 19 billion pesos through fraud, with which Castillo’s candidacy was favored.

At the hearing, the court verified that all the people investigated and their technical defenses were notified this morning of the request for the imposition of a measure of coercion deposited by the Public Ministry.
Likewise, it ordered the National Directorate of Penitentiary Services to enable suitable spaces that allow the technical defense to inform the accused of the request in accordance with the right of defense.
It also ordered that given the digital delivery of the evidence that supports the request, the defenses be allowed to access with an electronic device that allows them to review said elements with the accused.
