The Municipal Emergency Operations Committee (COEM) of Santa Cruz decided to suspend the restrictions assumed to deal with the fourth wave of the coronavirus in the municipality until March 2, after the celebration of the carnival.
“From Tuesday, February 1, 2022 until Wednesday, March 2, 2022, the restrictions on the movement of people and public and private motorized vehicles, of any kind, including motorcycles and bicycles, are lifted,” said the Secretary of Autonomy. of the municipality, José Luis Santisteban, in the reading of the resolution approved this Monday.
Likewise, it was determined that public and private activities, services and businesses will be able to function and attend from 5:00 in the morning until 2:00 in the morning.
It was also resolved that massive events such as parties, concerts, artistic festivals, performances by national and international artists, assemblies, elections and all kinds of crowding activities in closed and open environments may be carried out with biosecurity measures and prior authorization from the COEM.

The business hours from 5:00 in the morning to 2:00 in the morning of the next day also apply to food courts, restaurants, cafeterias, and food consumption sites, shopping centers, malls, supermarkets, financial entities , hotels and other service activities, such as cinemas and game rooms, as long as they comply with the biosecurity protocols approved by the COEM.

On Thursday, the mayors of the metropolitan region will meet to analyze the restrictions for the carnival celebrations. The mayor of Santa Cruz, Jhonny Fernández, announced that businessmen and institutions that have to do with the festivity will be invited to this meeting.
“We are also going to invite the businessmen and institutions that have to do with this theme of the carnival so that they are present and know everything that is going to be taken as a decision by the municipal governments and important aspects are going to be determined,” said Fernández.
