COE warns of dangerous maritime conditions on the country's coasts

Santo Domingo. – The Directorate of the Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported that, according to the meteorological bulletin issued by the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), maritime conditions are deteriorating both on the Caribbean coast and on the northern coast of the country.

According to the organization meteorologicalthis situation will continue for an approximate period of 24 to 48 hours, so the population, especially maritime operators, is urged to take appropriate precautions.

On the Atlantic coast, from Cabo Engaño (La Altagracia) to Cabo Cabrón (Samaná), INDOMET recommends operators of fragile, small and medium-sized vessels remain in port, due to gusts of wind and dangerous waves.

COE recommendations

For the rest of the Atlantic coast, it is advisable to navigate with caution near the coastal perimeter and avoid going out to sea.

On the Caribbean coast, from Paraíso (Barahona) to Isla Beata (Pedernales), the authorities indicate that fragile, small and medium-sized vessels must remain in port, due to the presence of dangerous wind with frequent gusts and abnormal waves. On the rest of this coast, it is also recommended to navigate with caution and without venturing out to sea.
