Six people died during traffic accidents recorded in the last few hours, as reported this Thursday by the Emergency Operations Center (COE).
The figure is contained in the second newsletter of the Christmas operation “Consciousness for Life”, developed from 6:00 in the morning of December 24 until 6:00 am on December 25, 2025.
Of these accidents, one occurred within the road safety device and five outside it. Among the victims, three died while they were traveling aboard motorcycles and three in light vehicles.
In total, 63 were reported traffic accidents on highways, roads, streets and avenues, of which 48 involved motorcycles, 12 light vehicles and three involved run-overs. Additionally, 86 people were affected by these incidents.
Intoxicated minors by alcohol
The bulletin also highlighted that 131 cases of alcohol poisoningincluding nine minors between 3 and 17 years old, as well as 34 cases of food poisoning.
Regarding public attendance, a total of 10,684 was reported, of which 10,061 corresponded to road assistance and 623 a medical assistance.
The National Institute of Traffic and Land Transportation (Intrant) inspected 209 intersections traffic lights and optimized the times in 30 of them. Likewise, it carried out technical inspections of 7,968 interurban public transport units, where various irregularities were detected, such as tires in poor condition, damaged lights, broken windows and drivers with expired licenses, among others.
For its part, the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (Digestett ) made 8,297 audits for violations of Law 63-17.
Among the most recurring were 2,197 motorcyclists without a protective helmet, 849 drivers without a license or with expired licenses and 662 for violating the red light. In addition, 706 motorcycles, 182 light vehicles and 221 heavy vehicles were detained by travel without permission.
He National Health Service treated 623 people in public network hospitals, while the Directorate of Out-of-Hospital Emergency Care Services (DAEH) provided assistance to 270 people. The Civil Defense installed two field hospitals and provided 56 health care services, while the Dominican Red Cross served 22 people.
The operation had the participation of various government institutions and organizations, including the Ministry of Defensethe Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Public Works, the National Police and the Dominican Red Crossamong others.
He COE reported that it will continue with the second phase of the operation, with the aim of guaranteeing the safety and well-being of the population during the Christmas festivities.
