COE reports five deaths in traffic accidents

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported this Saturday five people killed in traffic accidents in the first bulletin of phase one of the Christmas operation “Awareness for Life, Christmas and New Year 2022-2023”.

Retired General Juan Manuel Méndez García specified that of the total deaths, two occurred inside the road safety device and three outside it, involving a light vehicle and four motorcycles.

He also said that 52 people have been treated for alcoholic poisoning, two of them minors, while 12 were for food intake.

“The provinces that have reported the most cases are the National District, Santo Domingo and La Vega,” he specified during a press conference.

Méndez García also specified that so far in the operation there have been 32 traffic accidents, with a total of 40 people affected.

Likewise, it indicated that 2,105 people received assistance and 360 medical assistance was provided.

Likewise, it is recorded that 1,745 people were assisted on the roads and some 360 ​​received medical assistance.

The director of the COE urged citizens to wear a seat belt, avoid excesses, the intake of alcoholic beverages before and while driving a vehicle
