The Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported yesterday the death of 18 people due to traffic accidents over the weekend.
Nine of these accidents occurred within the areas of operations of the plan designed for the preventive operation “Awareness for Life, Christmas 2022”.
According to the report, of the 18 reported deaths, 12 were due to traffic accidents involving motorcycles, three in light vehicles, and three due to being run over.
Those who died due to motorcycle accidents within the areas of the operation are Reneury Minaya, 18 years old; Wilkin Cuevas and Anderson Hernández, both 20 years old; Sony David 40 and Mrs. Orquídea Milagros Jerez Gómez, 43 years old. Another nine people died outside the perimeter established for the COE preventive plan.
While Eriberto Caba Ferreira, 37 years old; Antonio Valdez, 60, and José Luis Díaz, died due to traffic accidents while traveling in light vehicles within the perimeter established for the preventive plan.
Antonio Hernández, 50, lost their lives due to being run over; María del Carmen Beltré, 63, and Elías Colomes Jiménez. The latter died within the area of the COE operation.
According to the report, 77 traffic accidents were recorded on Christmas Eve, 174 people were poisoned by alcohol intake and 49 by food.
