COE puts five provinces on a green alert for trough

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) placed five provinces on Sunday, due to the occurrence of moderate to strong downpourswith thunderstorms and bursts of wind, due to the incidence of a trough in the high levels of the troposphere.

The COE reported that the localities in surveillance are Santiago, Monsignor Nouel, San José de Ocoa, San Juan and La Vega.

The entity announced the information from the report of the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), for this reason it made a series of suggestions to preserve the life and physical integrity of citizens.

Among the recommendations is to refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines that present high volumes of water in the provinces under alert.

He also called on the operators of small and medium vessels on the Atlantic coast to navigate with caution near the coastal perimeter, without venturing sea inside, due to waves and abnormal winds.
