COE increases to 9 the provinces on yellow alert due to low water levels

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) increased the provinces on “yellow alert” to nine and maintains four, plus the National District, on green, due to the incidence of a trough and a tropical disturbance located over Puerto Rich.

The demarcations in yellow are Puerto Plata, Espaillat, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Hermanas Mirabal, Duarte and La Altagracia, where heavy rainfall has been recorded in the last 24 hours.

The tropical disturbance formed this Thursday and presents a potential 10% chance of development in the next seven days.

Meanwhile, another system continues to show signs of evolution to the west of the Caribbean Sea.

The first system was located over Puerto Rico at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, with a large cloud field capable of generating rain over eastern provinces of the Dominican Republic.

The second area of ​​downpours shows a development potential of 60% for the next seven days, according to the forecast.

For its part, the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) urged the population to remain attentive to the information that will be issued in the coming hours about both phenomena.
