The Emergency Operations Center (COE) announced that it has increased the green alert to 12 provinces and the National District, due to the fact that weather conditions will remain humid and unstable over the country, due to the passage of a tropical wave and the incidence of a trough at various levels of the troposphere.
Moderate to heavy showers with thunderstorms and occasional gusts of wind are also expected to occur throughout the day in several provinces of the country.
The provinces on green alert are: Santo Domingo National District, San Cristobal La Altagracia, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, San Jose de Ocoa, Monsignor Nouel, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, Dajabon, Puerto Plata, Samana and El Seibo.
In this regard, people are advised to refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines with high water volumes in the provinces under alert.
Likewise, operators of fragile, small and medium-sized vessels on the Caribbean and Atlantic coasts, as well as first response agencies, are urged to strictly follow the restriction contained in the marine report of the National Meteorological Office.
