Santo Domingo.– The Director of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), The retired general Juan Manuel Méndezannounced on Thursday his decision to integrate into active policy, after five years of having requested his withdrawal from the Army of the Dominican Republic (ERD), and reiterated his support for the president Luis Abinader and the government management that heads.
During a message aimed at the populationthe official recalled that since 2020 he went to civil life and that since then he has expressed his support for the president, whom he described as a “serious, capable and hardworking leader, committed to the welfare of the country”.
“I manifest my unrestricted support for President Abinader already your government executionwhich I understand has been excellent, ”he said.
Méndez also said that his support is a conscious and definitive decision, while reporting that he plans to formalize his entry to a political party in the coming days.

“The person who does not make decisions in life is not loyal. In my case, I support a president who works 24/7 for the welfare of the population,” he said.
The director of the COE also head of the Directorate of Extepital Emergency Care indicated that it makes available to the Head of State the positions he currently occupies, noting that his commitment to the President does not depend on a salary or the administration of public resources.
“My positions are at your disposal, President. To defend your management I don’t need a salary or handle budget,” he said.
Although he did not reveal what his political aspirations will be, he announced that he will announce it “later” and reiterated that he will continue to accompany President Abinader while he considers it appropriate.
