SANTO DOMINGO.- Given the indirect effects of the passage of Hurricane Erínthe Emergency Operations Center (COE) declared on Friday night alert green for eight provinces for possible floods of rivers, streams and ravines, as well as urban floods in the coastal area of the east region ,.
The provinces on alert are La Altagracia, Hato Mayor, Espaillat, Montecristi, El Seibo, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez and Puerto Plata.
The information was offered during a joint press conference headed by the COE director, Juan Manuel Méndez García; the director of the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), Gloria Ceballos; and the deputy director of the Civil Defense, Delfín Rodrígueztogether with other government officials.

Méndez asked the population to keep the official bulletins attentive, since preventive programs are being implemented to avoid unfortunate events.
On his side, Ceballos reported that the hurricane will move between Saturday night and Sunday to more than 400 kilometers northeast of the Dominican Republic, but recommended that the entire population remain prepared and attentive to the reports of INDOMET and emergency agencies.
Meanwhile, rOdríguez indicated that more than 700 shelters are readys to receive people who could be affected by the nearby passage of the phenomenon.
The authorities also recommend vessel operators to remain in port, from Altagracia to Montecristi along the Atlantic coast, because from tomorrow the waves will be increased.
