SANTO DOMINGO – The Dominican Council of Evangelical Unity (CODE) called on the Dominican population, especially the productive and economic sectors, to unite wills in favor of people affected by the passage of the hurricane Fiona.
Pastor Feliciano Lacen Custodio, representative of the entity, argued that given the situation in the country, we must appeal to love and mercy by uniting efforts and wills.
The CODUE considered as “healthy” the ease of a “special budget” allocated by the Executive Power.
The same, for the creation of the Operations Centers in the different provinces affected by the atmospheric phenomenon.
The CODUE also indicated that it hopes that the government and its collaborators apply a distribution of aid in a fair, equitable, objective and within a reasonable time, constantly promoting human dignity.
“Our motivation to the evangelical community, to continue collaborating as they have been doing before and since the passage of this hurricane, to unify efforts in the different areas, where the congregations of faith are present, to help those who can least and go to the aid of those who suffer and bring comfort to families who have lost human lives”, added Lacen Custodio.
Feliciano Lacen says he has reports of evangelical churches, foundations and ecclesiastical service entities collecting food, medicine, water and canned food.
They are going out to the Eastern and Northeastern regions of the country to collaborate with needy families, being a gesture of God’s love and mercy in favor of those affected.
In another aspect, Feliciano Lacen valued as positive the prompt response given by the government of President Luis Abinader to move to the province of La Altagracia.
Being this, one of the demarcations most affected by the rains that caused the category one phenomenon.
