SANTO DOMINGO. – The Dominican Council of Evangelical Unity (CODUE) considers that the government should make public spending more efficient and monitor more carefully the budget allocated to MINERD, since it must be well used to continue transforming the educational model.
Pastor Feliciano Lacen Custodio said that in the face of the challenges and actions that the educational portfolio has, such as: the hiring of new teachers, the construction of new classrooms, the strengthening of technical pedagogical services in the primary areas, education services for adolescents, as well as student welfare, it is necessary to maintain budget allocations, but with strict supervision and control of these resources.
However, Lacen Custodio explained that the issue is not only the percentage of investment but the quality of spending, that is, what are the priorities of said investment and what control and inspection mechanisms are carried out for compliance.
The representative of the entity is of the opinion that they should establish constant improvements, in favor of the students, educational quality, school maintenance and infrastructure, teaching dignity, competitive examinations respecting due process and social security in educational establishments.
In addition, promote actions aimed at continuing to improve education, through training programs and continuous updating of teachers, performance evaluation, and consider the current investment in education as important.
