Codopyme calls greater inclusion in legislative review

The Dominican Confederation of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Codopyme) expressed on Tuesday his support for the decision of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, not to promulgate and accommodate the observations made by different sectors to the reform of Law 225-20 on Comprehensive Management and Coprocessing of Waste.

Advances in public purchases and called to structural reforms

Codopyme He also greeted the recent promulgation of Law 42-25, which increases from 20 % to 30 % the participation of The MSMEs in public purchases, and from 5 % to 10 % in the case of women led by women.

At the same time with the entry into force of this law, the Confederation insisted on the need to rigorously apply the Decree 31-22which orders and regulates public purchases to MSMEsin order to contribute to sustainable development, business formalization and reduction in inequality.

Codopyme He also called the Congress to prioritize in the next legislature the modification of the Law 87-01 on Social Security, with the aim of moving towards a more fair and accessible system for workers and employers in the sector.

They also advocated the approval of the new Labor Code in accordance with the agreements reached in the tripartite dialogue.

Complaints for unfair competition and lack of supervision

During your statement, Codopyme warned about the proliferation of practices of unfair competitionespecially by stores of foreign origin that, as they affirmed, operate without regulation, without complying with labor regulations, without sanitary records and without labeling in Spanish, which contravenes current legislation.

They asked the corresponding authorities, DIGEMAPS, Public Health, Pro Consumer and the General Directorate of Customs, to exercise greater control and carry out more frequent inspections in supermarkets and large chains to ensure compliance with the standards in Imported products.

Exhortation by financing and comprehensive support plan

Codopyme He also called the monetary authorities to establish supervision mechanisms that guarantee that special funds with preferential rates effectively reach MSMEsand do not stay in the hands of large companies.
