Codelco reports death of worker at El Teniente Division

With deep regret, Codelco reported the death of 28-year-old worker Frank Olguín Mori, a maintenance mechanic for the Schwager company.

According to the preliminary information and for reasons under investigation, the accident occurred today, at approximately 3:00 p.m., in circumstances that the worker was carrying out work in the Primary Crushing plant of the Sewell concentrator, located in División The lieutenant.

Activities in the area were immediately suspended and rigorous procedures were initiated, notifying the competent authorities and activating the investigation to determine the causes of this unfortunate event.

“Codelco expresses its deepest condolences to the family of Frank Olguín Mori, to his colleagues and co-workers, and reiterates its call to promote safety as an essential value,” the state company said.

“Given this painful fact, together with having what is necessary for a transparent and expeditious investigation, the company makes an urgent call to both its workers and those who work in collaborating companies to abide by urgent and long-term measures to ensure compliance. of standards and protocols in all its processes”, they added from Codelco.

The company pointed out that, to promote reflection on this accident, the Codelco board of directors and the executive president have determined two days of mourning for the entire organization in which public activities, visits, ceremonies and events will be suspended.
