Codefat approves 2025 salary bonus calendar

Around 26.9 million people who worked with a formal contract in 2024 will be able to withdraw R$33.5 billion from the salary bonus from February to August of next year. The Deliberative Council of the Worker Support Fund (Codefat) approved this Tuesday (16) the calendar for the Social Integration Program (PIS) and the Public Servant Asset Formation Program (Pasep) in 2026.

Consultations on the right to the salary bonus, including date, amount and bank for withdrawal, will begin on February 5th and can be carried out through the Digital Work Card Application, through the Emprega Brasil Portalor by calling 158 from the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

Workers in the private sector receive PIS, paid by Caixa Econômica Federal. Public servants, employees of state-owned companies and military personnel are entitled to Pasep, paid by Banco do Brasil.

As is traditionally the case, payments will be divided into six batches, based on the month of birth, in the case of PIS, and the final registration number, in the case of Pasep. The withdrawal will begin on the release dates of the lots and will end on December 30, 2026. After this period, it will be necessary to wait for a special call from the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

Starting next year, the salary bonus will be released on the 15th of each month, from February to August, even in cases where the date falls on weekends and holidays. Codefat fixed the dates definitively, eliminating the need to approve the calendar each year.

Who is entitled

Workers registered with PIS/Pasep for at least five years, and who have formally worked for at least 30 days in the base year considered for calculation, with an average monthly remuneration of up to R$2,765.93, are entitled to the benefit. It is also necessary that the data has been correctly reported by the employer in the Annual Social Information Report (Rais).

The value of the bonus is proportional to the period in which the employee worked with a formal contract in 2022. Each month worked is equivalent to a benefit of R$135.08, with periods equal to or greater than 15 days counted as a full month. Anyone who worked for 12 months with a formal contract will receive the full minimum wage, expected to be R$1,621 next year, according to the Budget Guidelines Law of 2026 .

Rule change

Until 2025, the salary bonus benefited those who received up to two minimum wages with a formal contract. With the spending cut package approved by Congress at the end of 2024, starting next year, the framework ceiling will be adjusted for inflation, growing less than the minimum wage.

The change, in practice, introduces a transition rule that aims to reduce the total number of workers entitled to the salary bonus. The qualifying ceiling will move away from two minimum wages until, in 2035, the PIS/Pasep bonus will only be paid to those who receive up to 1.5 minimum wages.

Payment

Private sector workers with a checking or savings account at Caixa will receive credit automatically at the bank, according to the month of their birth.

The other beneficiaries will receive the amounts through digital social savings, which can be used via the Caixa Tem app. If it is not possible to open the digital account, withdrawals can be made using the Citizen’s Card and password at self-service terminals, lottery units, Caixa Aqui or branches, also according to the payment schedule staggered by month of birth.

Payment of the Pasep allowance occurs via credit to an account for those who have an account or have savings at Banco do Brasil. Workers who are not BB account holders can make the transfer via TED to the account they own via self-service terminals and the portal www.bb.com.br/pasep or at the branches’ cash counter, upon presentation of an official identity document.

Until 2020, the previous year’s salary bonus was paid from July of the current year to June of the following year. At the beginning of 2021, Codefat complied with the recommendation of the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) and began to deposit the money only two years after working with a formal contract.
